The Gardens lend themselves to posed, set-piece photos. Most people who visit the Gardens take caneras with them with the aim of taking such pictures. Perhaps this is one reason why the children saw it as an opportunity to wear their best clothes.
Priti, who later showed a distinctive flair for the unexpected, first showed this in this picture she took of a stray dog as it ran out of the rose garden.
Shobha directed this in an attempt to do something different with the poses we all adopted for the camera.
I had to get used to being a subject of the children's photos. I had not really expected it.
One of the trees was garlanded in flowers and offerings had been placed underneath. Kala joined the prayers.
As we were leaving the gardens a rainbow appeared. Kala's first thought was to photograph it but everyone tried to discourage her saying it wouldn't come out. I encouraged her to try and it did! Later this became a favourite photo when the children looked back through the slides on the laptop.
